Brethren Insurance Services
The Church of the Brethren Benefit Trust Insurance Services provides ancillary coverage for ministers and other employees of congregations, districts, and camps. Medical and ancillary plans are available to church agencies.

Employees of related Church of the Brethren agencies are also eligible for enrollment in the medical and ancillary plans. Enrollment information about the plans for which you are eligible is available through your human resources manager.

To be eligible to participate in most of the insurance services, employees must work at least 20 hours a week and enroll within 31 days of their hire date.

Medicare Supplement insurance is offered to church workers and spouses who have become Medicare eligible. Employees and/or their spouses will need to apply for the insurance no later than six months following their Medicare eligibility. Surviving spouses of Church of the Brethren employees may also apply within six months of their Medicare eligibility.

Benefits encompass a wide variety of health and welfare services, including dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance. In addition, employees, church members, and others related to the Church of the Brethren have access to long-term care insurance.

Plan members initially enrolling into the plan(s) benefit from “guaranteed issue,” which means there are no screenings to determine insurability or limitations placed on pre-existing conditions.
