Employee Financial Services Overview

BBT’s Employee Financial Services are ministries designed to assist current and retired pastors and church workers with programs and services that extend beyond BBT’s set fiduciary ministries of pension, insurance, asset management, deferred-gift management and credit union services.

As part of its EFS, BBT administers two grant programs: Church Workers Assistance Plan (CWAP) provides financial support to church workers with specific financial needs. CWAP stems from the Church of the Brethren’s commitment to mutuality within the church and is funded by local churches and districts that participate in the Pension Plan. Supplemental Income for Equitable Annuitants (SIFEA) supports lay workers who were employed by the General Board before eligibility in the Brethren Pension Plan was expanded to include laity. See the links on this page for detailed information on these plans.

In addition to the grant programs, BBT provides financial expertise as a service to the church. BBT staff conduct educational seminars, presentations, and Insight Sessions on issues related to stewardship, investing, and finance, covering such diverse topics as socially responsible consuming, estate planning, and credit card debt.

The Credit Union’s director, Dennis Kingery, held an Insight Session on the dangers of credit card debt at Annual Conference 2006.
